How to take

Adult dose

The dosage of this medication should be determined within the maximum recommended doses of linagliptin 2.5 mg and metformin 1000 mg taken 2 times a day, considering each patient's current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability. This drug is administered twice daily with meals. 1. If the patient is not currently being treated with metformin: As an initial dose, this drug 2.5/500 mg can be taken as 1 tablet twice daily.

Precautions

This medicine helps to control blood sugar levels. However, it should not be administered to patients with specific diseases or conditions. For example, this medicine may pose risks to patients who are allergic to its components, patients with type 1 diabetes, patients with severe renal impairment, or those with acute infections or serious trauma. Additionally, this drug can cause a serious side effect called lactic acidosis, so caution is especially needed in patients with reduced kidney function or compromised heart or liver function. During treatment with this drug, hypoglycemia may occur. Therefore, when used with other hypoglycemic agents or insulin, blood sugar levels should be monitored frequently and doses adjusted as necessary. Renal function should be regularly checked to ensure the drug does not burden the body, and in certain situations such as surgery or radiological examinations, the medication may need to be temporarily discontinued. This drug is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women and should generally not be used in children or pediatric patients under 10 years of age. If abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, severe muscle pain, shortness of breath, skin rash, vesicular symptoms appear, immediate consultation with a physician should be sought. Additionally, this drug may lower vitamin B12 levels, so regular blood tests are needed during prolonged use.
