Precautions

This medication should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as it contains rhubarb which can cause uterine contractions, increasing the risk of preterm birth or miscarriage. Women who are breastfeeding should also avoid this medication, as certain components of rhubarb can be passed into breast milk and cause diarrhea in infants. Individuals with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, lactose deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should refrain from taking this medication due to the presence of lactose. During treatment, it is advisable not to take other laxatives concurrently, as combining them can exacerbate side effects. Persons with hypertension, heart or kidney diseases, or edema must consult a healthcare professional before taking this medication, as it may worsen symptoms. Older adults may have reduced bodily functions, so dosage adjustments or caution is needed. It is advisable for those on other medications to consult a professional prior to starting this treatment. Individuals experiencing diarrhea or loose stools or those with a weak stomach should be careful, as these symptoms may worsen with this medication. Consulting a professional before use is recommended for those with loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting symptoms. Those recovering from illness or with lowered physical strength should exercise caution, as this medication may cause side effects more easily. Patients who sweat excessively or have cardiovascular diseases such as angina or myocardial infarction, or those with a history of such conditions, should seek advice before taking this medication. Patients with urinary disorders or hyperthyroidism should be cautious, as symptoms may worsen with this medication. Anyone who has experienced allergic reactions such as rashes, redness, or itching from this medication in the past should not take it. Diabetic patients should be cautious, as the ephedra component in this medication may increase blood sugar levels. If swelling of the face or limbs, an increase in blood pressure, or headaches occur while taking this medication, it should be discontinued immediately and a professional consulted. Symptoms of muscle weakness, cramps, or paralysis should prompt cessation of the medication and consultation with healthcare providers. If digestive symptoms such as indigestion, abdominal pain, vomiting, or diarrhea occur, it is advisable to stop taking the medication and seek advice. If unusual symptoms like skin rashes or itching, insomnia, excessive sweating, rapid heartbeat, or general fatigue appear, discontinue use and consult a professional immediately. Should urinary disorders or liver function abnormalities arise, stop taking the medication and inform a physician. If constipation symptoms do not improve, do not continue use for more than one week, and consult a professional. This medication should not be taken for extended periods; if prolonged use is unavoidable, one must consult a professional. Irritant laxatives can cause tolerance with long-term use, worsening constipation; thus, it should not be continuously taken for more than one week. Adhering strictly to the prescribed dosage and administration is essential, as the effects of rhubarb may differ for individuals. When taking other herbal medicines, ensure there are no overlapping herbal components, particularly with formulations containing rhubarb. Taking this medication alongside ephedra, ephedrine, MAO inhibitors, thyroid medications, catecholamines, or xanthine drugs may lead to side effects such as insomnia, excessive sweating, rapid heartbeat, and mental agitation, and should be done with caution. Using potassium supplements, licorice, loop, and thiazide diuretics in combination may increase the risk of hypokalemia or muscle damage, necessitating caution. This medication should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and the container must be tightly closed after use. It must be kept in a safe place out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container may degrade quality or pose a risk of misuse, so it should be stored in its original container.
