This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with Amlodipine or Valsartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time each day (e.g., morning) if possible. 5/80 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not controlled with Amlodipine 5 mg or Valsartan 80 mg alone. 5/160 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not controlled with Amlodipine 5 mg or Valsartan 160 mg alone.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under the age of 18 have not been established, and administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn when taken in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Individuals allergic to this medication's active ingredients or similar drugs should not use it. Additionally, pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, and breastfeeding women should avoid taking this medication. Patients with severe impairment of kidney or liver function, certain heart diseases, and those with a history of angioedema should not take this medication. Patients with insufficient sodium or body fluids may experience hypotension; thus, their conditions should be assessed before starting treatment, and blood pressure and symptoms should be closely monitored during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels should have regular blood tests when taking this medication along with other drugs that may raise potassium levels. Patients with renal vascular issues or those who have undergone kidney transplantation should use this medication with caution, as kidney function may deteriorate. Patients with heart failure or after myocardial infarction should closely monitor kidney function changes while on this medication, and severe heart failure patients require special attention. This medication may cause various side effects such as hypotension, dizziness, headache, edema, indigestion, skin rash, etc.; therefore, if any unusual symptoms occur, patients should consult healthcare professionals immediately. Dizziness or fatigue may present during driving or operating machinery; caution is necessary. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive drugs, potassium supplements, diuretics, certain antibiotics, and lithium preparations, so if patients are taking other medications, they must inform their healthcare professionals. It is advised that pregnant or breastfeeding women do not take this medication, especially if planning to conceive, they should consult with a doctor. Safety and efficacy in children under the age of 18 have not been sufficiently established, and use in this population is not recommended. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or arrhythmias may occur, thus adhering to the dosage is crucial, and if any abnormal symptoms arise, patients should seek medical attention immediately.
