This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine or valsartan. Essential hypertension is a condition where it is crucial to control blood pressure within normal ranges, and this drug helps effectively lower blood pressure and prevent complications. Therefore, it is used to improve the patient's blood pressure management and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

The recommended dosage for adults is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is suggested to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Doses of 5/80 milligrams, 5/160 milligrams, and 10/160 milligrams are administered based on the patient's condition. Dosage adjustment and caution are needed in patients with renal impairment, liver impairment, and those aged 65 years or older.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, treatment should be stopped immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients with severe kidney or liver impairment, and those with certain heart diseases should not take this drug. Patients with sodium or fluid depletion, hyperkalemia, renal artery stenosis, those who have recently undergone kidney transplantation, and patients with a history of angioedema should use this medication cautiously under close medical supervision. Various side effects, including dizziness, headache, swelling, hypotension, rash, myalgia, etc., may occur, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to medical personnel immediately. Caution is needed while driving or operating machinery as dizziness or fatigue may occur, particularly when starting treatment or changing the dosage. This drug may interact with other antihypertensives, potassium supplements, certain anti-inflammatory drugs, and some antibiotics, so inform your doctor of any other medications you are taking. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should avoid this drug, and breastfeeding women should also avoid using this medication. This medication is not recommended for patients under 18 years of age as safety and efficacy have not been established.
