Precautions

This medication can rarely cause a serious metabolic complication known as lactic acidosis, which can be life-threatening. When used with other diabetes medications for blood sugar control, there is a risk of hypoglycemia, so caution is advised. If there are any muscle-related abnormalities, especially suspected muscle pain or damage, treatment should be stopped immediately, and a doctor should be consulted. This medication should not be used in patients with severely reduced kidney function or in situations where acute kidney injury is suspected. It should not be administered to patients in serious conditions such as acute heart failure, myocardial infarction, or sepsis. Prior to any examination involving iodinated contrast agents, this medication should be temporarily discontinued and restarted only after kidney function is confirmed to be normal. Patients allergic to this medication's ingredients or similar drugs should not use it. Usage is prohibited in specific patient populations, including those with type 1 diabetes, metabolic acidosis, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and children under 10 years of age. Patients who have irregular meals or engage in vigorous exercise, alcoholics, and those with liver diseases should use this medication cautiously and may require dosage adjustments per their doctor's instructions. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, diarrhea, etc.), muscle pain, liver function abnormalities, and hypoglycemia may occur, so any symptoms should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. If muscle pain or weakness, fever, or fatigue occurs, medical attention should be sought immediately, and regular liver function tests and blood tests should be performed. This medication may interact with other drugs, so inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications being taken. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should not use this medication, and appropriate contraceptive methods should be used during treatment. Elderly patients may have reduced kidney function, requiring regular kidney function testing and potential dosage adjustments. In case of overdose, seek medical attention immediately for appropriate treatment, and keep this medication out of reach of children.
