Precautions

This medication can rarely cause a serious condition called lactic acidosis, which can be life-threatening and requires caution. When taken with insulin or sulfonylurea class medications, severe hypoglycemia symptoms may occur, necessitating caution. If muscle-related side effects occur or if creatine kinase levels rise sharply, this medication should be discontinued. In situations that may affect kidney function, such as severe infections or surgeries, it may need to be temporarily halted. Patients with significantly impaired kidney function, acute heart failure, or those receiving this medication before specific tests should not take it. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, breastfeeding women, children under 10, and patients with certain genetic disorders should also avoid this medication. Care should be taken when the amount of food is irregular or insufficient, during vigorous exercise, or when taking other medications. Patients with severely impaired liver function or excessive alcohol consumption should exercise caution. It is important to regularly monitor kidney and liver function while taking this medication, and to inform a doctor immediately if symptoms such as muscle pain or weakness occur. Additionally, this medication may interact with other drugs, so it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist regarding any concurrent medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid taking this medication, and women of childbearing age should use appropriate contraceptive methods. Elderly patients may need dosage adjustments and regular monitoring due to potential declines in kidney function. In case of overdose, immediately visit a medical facility for appropriate treatment, and keep out of reach of children.
