Precautions

This drug can rarely cause a serious metabolic disease called lactic acidosis, so if symptoms occur, immediate medical attention should be sought. Additionally, caution should be taken when taken with insulin or sulfonylurea antidiabetic drugs due to the risk of hypoglycemia. If symptoms related to muscles or elevated levels of creatine kinase (CK) are detected in blood tests, use should be discontinued immediately and advice sought from a doctor. It should not be used in patients with severely impaired kidney function or specific diseases such as acute heart failure or acute myocardial infarction. The use of this drug should be temporarily suspended before and after tests using iodine contrast agents, and it can only be resumed once kidney function is confirmed to be normal. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this drug, and women of childbearing age should practice appropriate contraception. Elderly patients or those with reduced kidney function should have regular kidney function tests before and during use, and dosage adjustment may be necessary. This drug increases the risk of lactic acidosis when taken with alcohol, so it is advisable to avoid drinking. Any abnormal symptoms such as muscle pain, fatigue, shortness of breath, or abdominal pain should be reported to a healthcare professional immediately. This drug may interact with other medications, so it is essential to inform a doctor or pharmacist about any other medications being taken. The drug should be swallowed whole as per the dosing instructions and should not be crushed or chewed. It is not recommended for children and adolescents under the age of 18, as its safety and efficacy have not been established for this group. In case of overdose, immediate medical attention must be sought. Keep out of reach of children and store the drug in its original container.
