This medication is effective not only in treating hypertension but also in myocardial ischemia caused by stable and variant angina. Additionally, it helps decrease the risk of hospitalization due to angina in patients recently diagnosed with coronary artery disease during angiography, who do not have heart failure and have a cardiac output of more than 40%. It is used to prevent and improve various symptoms and complications of cardiovascular diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

Adult: Take 5 mg orally once daily as amlodipine, and may increase up to a maximum of 10 mg per day depending on the patient's response. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to individuals who are allergic to this drug or similar medications, nursing women, patients with severe liver dysfunction, those with severe aortic stenosis, and patients in a state of shock. Caution should also be exercised when administering it to patients with severe hypotension, those requiring dialysis due to renal failure, the elderly, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. During treatment with this medication, symptoms such as facial flushing, fatigue, swelling, palpitations, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and nausea may occur due to vascular dilation. Rarely, side effects such as hypotension, vasculitis, neurological disorders, gastrointestinal issues, liver function abnormalities, and skin rashes have been reported. Patients with heart failure or impaired liver function should be especially cautious when using this medication, and blood pressure may gradually decrease after discontinuation. When used in conjunction with other antihypertensive agents, dosage and intervals should be carefully adjusted. This medication does not significantly impair driving or machine operation; however, individual variations may require caution. When used with other medications, interactions may occur, so it is advisable to consult a physician or pharmacist, especially when taking with grapefruit juice, certain antibiotics, antihypertensive drugs, immunosuppressants, or statin medications. Safety has not been established during pregnancy, so it should only be used in special cases, and it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding as this medication may be secreted in breast milk. In children, it can be used from the age of 6 years, but safety and efficacy have not been confirmed in children under 6 years of age. In the case of overdose, severe hypotension and cardiac issues may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment; blood pressure and cardiac status should be closely monitored, and appropriate measures should be taken.
