This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be administered as an adjunct to dietary management and exercise therapy, and can be taken alone or in combination with other medications. This helps effectively manage blood sugar levels.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

The recommended dosage of this medication is 5mg once daily. It can be administered regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with allergic reactions to the active ingredient or other components. It is also not administered to patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution is necessary when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, as this medication can cause hypoglycemia. The risk of hypoglycemia may increase when used in combination with this medication, thus dosage adjustments may be required. There is limited experience with this medication in patients with heart failure, so careful administration is advised. Acute pancreatitis symptoms may occur; if there is continuous severe abdominal pain, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Various adverse reactions such as hypoglycemia, dyspepsia, edema, rashes, arthralgia, rhabdomyolysis, weight gain, increased lipase, increased amylase, dyspepsia, edema, facial edema, peripheral edema, weight loss, increased appetite, constipation, upper abdominal pain, enterocolitis, bowel obstruction, gastritis, herpes zoster, cystitis, acute pyelonephritis, bronchitis, vestibular neuronitis, pneumonia, decreased appetite, and dehydration have been reported, so it is important to inform healthcare personnel if symptoms occur. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before using this medication, and it is not recommended for children and adolescents. Elderly patients or those with weakened kidney and liver functions can use it without special dosage adjustments, but care should be taken depending on their condition. The possibility of interactions with other medications is low, but when used in combination with specific drugs, follow the physician's instructions. In the case of overdose, measures should be taken to prevent absorption of the drug in the gastrointestinal tract, monitor clinical symptoms, and receive appropriate treatment if necessary. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and it is safer not to transfer it to another container.
