Treatment and prevention of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive reflux esophagitis), treatment and prevention of relapse of Helicobacter pylori-related peptic ulcer, treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers related to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive reflux esophagitis as well as for long-term maintenance therapy for the prevention of recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It is also effective for the treatment of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection when used in combination with antibiotics. Additionally, it helps treat and prevent upper gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric ulcers caused by taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is also used in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and is suitable for maintenance therapy after preventing rebleeding from gastric ulcers or duodenal ulcers. It is widely used for the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal diseases.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist, an additional 4 weeks of treatment is required. - Long-term maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence: 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - As needed.
Adolescents aged 12 years and older - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist, an additional 4 weeks of treatment is required. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily.
This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this medication or its components, patients with hypersensitivity to certain antibiotics, and those with a history of certain heart diseases should avoid taking it. Moreover, breastfeeding women should not take this medication. This medication can cause various side effects, so if any abnormal symptoms occur during use, one should immediately consult a doctor. Symptoms such as headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, skin rash, muscle pain, etc., have been reported, and in rare cases, serious skin reactions or hematological abnormalities may also occur. Regular check-ups are needed for prolonged use of this medication. In particular, if used for more than one year, magnesium levels and fracture risks should be carefully monitored. This medication suppresses stomach acid secretion, which may change the gastric environment and increase the risk of certain bacterial infections. Moreover, there is a high possibility of interaction with other medications, so you must inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medications. Special caution is required when combined with drugs that affect blood coagulation, antiviral drugs, and antibiotics. Its safety during pregnancy has not been sufficiently established, thus it should be used cautiously, and it is advisable to avoid taking it during breastfeeding. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so treatment should be symptomatic, and it should be stored out of reach of children.
Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe rash with high fever, blistering, peeling skin, pain in the mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy throughout the body, sudden and very severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion of consciousness, vision abnormalities, paralysis, urinary issues.
Headache, dizziness, sensory disturbances, drowsiness, taste disorders, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, increased liver enzymes, dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, fractures, arthralgia, myalgia, interstitial nephritis, gynecomastia, asthenia, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, allergic reactions, facial swelling, flushing, fatigue, fever, influenza-like symptoms.

This medication should be stored in a sealed container to protect it from air and moisture. It is recommended to store it at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius.
