This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It lowers the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with major risk factors for coronary heart disease and in patients with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, it reduces the risk of non-fatal myocardial infarction, fatal and non-fatal strokes, vascular revascularization, hospitalization for congestive heart failure, and angina in patients with clinical evidence of heart disease. It also effectively reduces total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo-B protein, and triglyceride levels while increasing HDL-cholesterol levels in patients with hyperlipidemia. It is especially used in patients with dyslipidemia who do not respond to dietary changes and for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia in children aged 10 to 17 years. This drug plays a crucial role in improving cardiovascular health.
