View approved original text

This medication is used as an adjunct to dietary therapy to reduce elevated triglyceride levels in patients with endogenous hypertriglyceridemia. It treats hypertriglyceridemia (Type IV) when used alone and enhances effects when combined with statins in patients with mixed hyperlipidemia (Type IIb) consisting of hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia. It is especially helpful in symptom improvement when triglyceride levels are not well-controlled, even when used with statins. It is beneficial for various forms of hyperlipidemia treatment and effectively regulates blood lipid levels.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to its components or in children under 18 years of age. It should be used cautiously in patients at high risk of bleeding due to severe trauma or surgery, in patients with poor liver function, and in patients with fish allergies. Various adverse reactions may occur during the use of this medication; if symptoms develop, consult medical personnel immediately. It is important to confirm whether triglyceride levels exceed normal range through blood tests before administration, and combining dietary therapy and exercise will be beneficial for treatment. Regular blood tests should monitor efficacy and side effects during treatment, and discontinuation should occur if no effect is observed after 2 months. This medication may prolong bleeding time, so care should be taken to monitor bleeding risk when used with anticoagulants or aspirin. During pregnancy, it should only be used when absolutely necessary considering the risks to the fetus, and nursing women should also take care when using it.
