This medication neutralizes stomach acid through its antacid action, alleviating discomfort caused by excess stomach acid. It also helps treat gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastritis, improving symptoms such as heartburn, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and belching. Therefore, this medication is used to improve gastric-related diseases and symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 g of Almagate orally, 3 times a day, chewed 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals. An additional dose can be taken at bedtime if needed.

Child dose

For children 12 years and older, take 1 g of Almagate orally, 3 times a day, chewed 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals. An additional dose can be taken at bedtime if needed.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who have an allergic reaction to it or its components. Patients with Alzheimer's disease or those with hemorrhoids are also advised not to use this medication. Patients with edema from excess fluid retention, preeclampsia, or diarrhea should avoid this medication. This medication should not be taken if there is undetermined bleeding from the digestive tract. Since this medication contains lactose, individuals with lactose intolerance or certain genetic conditions should not take it. While taking this medication, it is advisable not to take tetracycline antibiotics, as they may interfere with its absorption. If you are taking other medications, this medication may affect their absorption or excretion, so you must consult with a doctor or pharmacist. It is especially safe to take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, ulcer medications, digitalis preparations, antibiotics, and iron supplements at least 2-3 hours apart. Individuals taking salicylates should be cautious as this medication may increase the excretion of drugs through the kidneys. Patients with impaired kidney function should avoid this medication as the magnesium or aluminum in it may accumulate in the body. Individuals with weakened bodies or low inclusion diets, or those with malabsorption disorders should be cautious about the long-term use of this medication as it may affect bone health. Elderly patients should consult a specialist before use. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should consult a specialist before taking this medication. If constipation or diarrhea occurs, or if symptoms do not improve after using this medication for more than 2 weeks, discontinue use immediately and consult a specialist. This medication must be taken according to the prescribed dosage and method, and when given to children, it should be administered under adult supervision. Store in a place not accessible to children, and keep it sealed in its original container. It is best to store in a cool place away from direct sunlight and with low humidity.
