Vitamin D is crucial to supply during periods requiring special nutritional care, such as pregnancy, lactation, growth, and old age. This medicine helps support healthy bone and teeth development and is particularly used to prevent rickets, a condition characterized by weakened bones. Therefore, by adequately consuming vitamin D, it promotes the healthy formation of skeletal structure in growing children and improves bone health in adults and the elderly.

Precautions

This medicine should not be taken by patients with hypercalcemia (high calcium levels in the blood), sarcoidosis (a systemic inflammatory disease of unknown cause), or those suffering from kidney diseases. Furthermore, individuals who have allergic reactions to this medicine or its constituents should avoid its use, as well as infants under 12 months of age, patients with kidney stones, and those with severely impaired kidney function. This medicine contains lactose; therefore, it should not be administered to patients with genetic problems such as lactose intolerance, lactose hydrolysis enzyme deficiency, and glucose-galactose malabsorption disorders. While taking this medication, it is advisable to avoid simultaneous use of phosphates, calcium salts, oral tetracycline antibiotics, and antacids. Individuals receiving medical treatment, children who are exposed to a lot of sunlight, pregnant women or women who might become pregnant, lactating women, premature babies, and infants must consult with a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. Caution is needed because vitamin D may be transferred to newborns through breast milk, potentially causing hypercalcemia. Patients with heart or circulatory issues, kidney disorders, hypoproteinemia, those taking cardiac glycosides, or those with a history of kidney stones should also consult with a healthcare professional before use. This medicine contains Yellow No. 4 (Tartrazine), which necessitates caution in individuals allergic or sensitive to this component. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, low blood pressure, flushing of the face, irregular heartbeat, or skin rashes occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult with a doctor or pharmacist. Overdosage can result in gastrointestinal disturbances, hypernatremia, congestive heart failure, and edema; therefore, caution is needed, and prolonged use may lead to hypercalcemia and calculi. There is also a risk of hyperkalemia if taken with certain diuretics, further emphasizing the need for caution. In the event of an overdose or if symptoms do not improve after more than one month of use, it is essential to consult with a healthcare professional. This medicine should be strictly taken according to the prescribed dosage and regimen, with adult supervision required when administered to children. It is advisable to avoid consuming tannin-containing teas, such as green or black tea, around the time of taking this medicine. For storage, keep out of reach of children and store in a tightly sealed container, away from direct sunlight, in a cool, dry place. To maintain quality, do not transfer to another container and prevent misuse.
