Gascon (Simethicone)

Adult dose

1. For gastroscopy: Administer 40-80mg of simethicone orally with approximately 10mL of water 15-40 minutes before the examination. 2. For abdominal X-ray: Administer 40-80mg once, three times a day, after meals or between meals starting 3-4 days before the examination. 3. For improvement of abdominal symptoms due to gastrointestinal gas: Administer 40-80mg once, three times a day after meals or at bedtime. Adjust dosage according to age and symptoms.

This medication contains aspartame, a synthetic sweetener. Aspartame is broken down into phenylalanine in the body, so patients with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder that requires limiting phenylalanine intake, should not take this medication. Furthermore, the amount of aspartame in this medication should be controlled to be below the WHO recommended amount of 40mg per kg of body weight, and for a 60kg adult, the maximum daily dosage is 2.4g. This medication also contains sodium metabisulfite, which can cause allergic reactions. Patients with asthma may be sensitive to sulfites, so caution is advised. Some patients may experience severe allergic reactions or asthma attacks. While taking this medication, there may occasionally be gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, and loss of appetite, and seldom headaches may also occur. This medication contains sodium benzoate, which may cause mild irritation to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes, so caution is necessary. Before use, shake the bottle well to ensure the contents are evenly mixed, and store it out of reach of children. Additionally, it is advised to avoid direct sunlight and store in a cool, dry place with the cap tightly closed to maintain the medication's efficacy.
