This medication is used for the treatment of acute and chronic enteritis and diarrhea, including acute dysentery and abnormal fermentation occurring in the intestine.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

For adults, take 2 g per dose, 3 times a day. The first dose should be 4 g.

Children's dosage

For young children, take 1 g per dose, 3 times a day.

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which is broken down into phenylalanine in the body. Therefore, it should not be used by patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria. The daily intake of aspartame should be regulated to not exceed the WHO recommended amount of 40 mg/kg; for example, for a 60 kg adult, the maximum daily dosage is 2.4 g. This medication can be used with other antibiotics, but it is advisable not to take it together with ciprofloxacin, imipenem, or sodium cilastatin. Patients who are currently undergoing treatment need to be cautious when using this medication, and it is important to consult a physician in special situations. This medication contains lactose and should not be used by patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. The prescribed dosage and frequency must be strictly followed, and if symptoms do not improve after taking the medication for about a month, it should be discontinued, and a specialist should be consulted. Consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is mandatory before administering this medication to infants under 3 months of age. Keep the medication out of reach of children and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
