Patients with severe biliary obstruction should avoid this medication, as it may alter bile flow and worsen symptoms. Patients with acute hepatitis may also be at risk of worsened symptoms when taking this medication. Patients with radio-opaque calcified gallstones, non-functioning gallbladders, or acute cholecystitis should not take this medication. Pregnant women, those who may become pregnant, and breastfeeding women should not take this medication. Children and patients with poor kidney function should also avoid using this medication. Patients with acute gastric or duodenal ulcers need to be cautious as this medication may irritate the gastric mucosa and worsen symptoms. Patients with inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease should consult a professional before taking this medication. This medication contains lactose, and those with lactose intolerance or related genetic conditions should not take it. While taking this medication, it should not be combined with certain diabetic medications, antacids, cholesterol-lowering medications, and should avoid concurrent use with drugs that may cause liver damage. Patients with severe pancreatic disease, gallstones in the bile ducts, or very poor liver function must consult a doctor before taking this medication. Side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and gastrointestinal symptoms like pruritus, rash, and general malaise may occur; if symptoms such as dyspnea or fever associated with interstitial pneumonia arise, stop taking immediately and consult medical personnel. Regular check-ups such as liver function tests are necessary, especially for the elderly, as dosage adjustments may be required based on their reduced physical function. Gallstone treatment may take approximately 6 months to 2 years, thus regular checks through ultrasound or X-ray are necessary to monitor treatment progress. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it should be kept in its original container to maintain the quality and ensure safe use.
