View approved original text

This medication is used alongside dietary and exercise therapy to help control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be administered alone, and if no improvement is observed with other oral hypoglycemic agents, it may be used in combination with sulfonylureas, metformin, or insulin. Additionally, it is important for patients to engage in nutritional counseling and weight loss, as well as exercise, as these efforts are crucial not only for initial treatment but also for maintaining the effectiveness of drug therapy. Therefore, this medication is used for improving blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Elderly patients or those with decreased kidney or liver function require more careful monitoring during treatment with this medication. This medication is taken once daily, and care should be taken not to double the dose if a dose is missed on the following day. There may be drug interactions, so if other medications are being taken, it is essential to inform the doctor or pharmacist.
