This medication is used to improve gastrointestinal abnormal symptoms such as abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting occurring in esophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, gastritis, and ulcers of the stomach and duodenum. It also helps to relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon, facilitating bowel movements. For children, it is effective in managing constipation and diarrhea due to habitual vomiting or non-infectious bowel obstruction. It helps to alleviate and treat various gastrointestinal-related issues.

How to take

Adult dose

As trimebutine maleate, take 100-200 mg orally 3 times a day before meals. Adjust dosage appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose, so individuals with a genetic disorder that prevents them from properly digesting lactose should not take it. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as constipation, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dry mouth, and oral numbness may rarely occur. Additionally, symptoms of increased heart rate may rarely occur, so caution is necessary. Neurological symptoms such as fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, and headache may also be experienced rarely. Liver function-related test values may temporarily increase, so individuals with liver health issues should exercise caution. If allergic reactions such as rash occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been sufficiently confirmed, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks. Breastfeeding women are advised not to take this medication; if unavoidable, breastfeeding should be discontinued.
