Precautions

This medication may place a burden on the liver, so individuals who consume a large amount of alcohol daily should consult their doctor or pharmacist before taking it. If severe rashes, blisters, red spots, or any allergic reactions appear on the skin during treatment, stop taking the medication immediately and inform the healthcare provider. The active ingredient, tramadol, can increase the risk of seizures in cases of overdose, and using it in conjunction with certain antidepressants or narcotic analgesics may further heighten this risk. Symptoms of respiratory difficulty may occur, so individuals with asthma or respiratory diseases should use this medication with special caution, and in such cases, they should take it in an environment where they can be monitored by medical staff. Taking this medication with alcohol, sleeping pills, sedatives, or other central nervous system depressants can lead to severe drowsiness, respiratory depression, or states of coma, so it is advisable to avoid co-administration. Patients with head injuries or brain diseases should refrain from using this medication, as it may worsen their symptoms. Patients with severe liver or kidney impairment face a higher risk of side effects when taking this medication, thus it should be used cautiously after consulting a doctor. Children, especially those under 12 years old or adolescents under 18 who have undergone tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy, should not use this medication, and adolescents aged 12 to 17 years should avoid use if there are special risk factors. This medication can cause physical and psychological dependence; therefore, the duration and dosage should be adjusted according to a doctor’s guidance when used for long periods. If the medication is abruptly discontinued during treatment, withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, tremors, and nausea may occur, so it is important to gradually taper off as per a physician's instructions. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur during driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised, especially when taken with alcohol or other sedatives which can increase the risks. In case of an overdose, serious side effects such as respiratory depression, seizures, and liver damage may occur, so do not exceed the prescribed dose, and if overdose is suspected, immediate emergency treatment is necessary. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a doctor before taking this medication, as it may affect the fetus or newborn. This medication has many drug interactions, so be sure to inform medical personnel if taking other medications, particularly antidepressants, antibiotics, antifungal agents, anticonvulsants, or warfarin, as caution is needed when used together.
