This medication is used to relieve inflammation in joints and surrounding tissues caused by conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease), and periarthritis of the scapulohumeral joint. It also helps improve various pains including dental pain, inflammation occurring after trauma, back pain, sciatica, and pain due to non-articular rheumatism. By reducing inflammation and relieving pain, this medication helps make the patients' daily lives more comfortable. Therefore, it is effectively used for these diseases and symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Take 100 mg of aceclofenac every 12 hours, twice a day. This medication should be taken whole, without chewing or crushing. Adjust dosages appropriately based on symptoms. To minimize cardiovascular adverse reactions, it is recommended to administer the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.

Precautions

Patients who regularly consume more than three glasses of alcohol a day should consult with a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. Those who consume large amounts of alcohol may be at higher risk for gastrointestinal bleeding when taking this medication. This medication may increase risks to the cardiovascular system and cerebrovascular system. Patients with risk factors such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and smoking should be cautious when deciding to take this medication. As the dose and duration of treatment increase, the risk to the cardiovascular system may rise; thus, it is advisable to take the minimum effective dose for the shortest duration possible. Physicians and patients should regularly monitor for cardiovascular symptoms, and take immediate action if symptoms occur. This medication can cause serious gastrointestinal side effects such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and perforation. Particularly, elderly patients or those with a history of gastrointestinal disorders should be more cautious and should inform medical personnel immediately if symptoms of gastrointestinal bleeding arise. Patients with active peptic ulcers or bleeding, or with allergies to this medication or similar drugs should not take this medication. Patients with a history of allergic reactions such as asthma or hives, or with severe heart failure, significantly impaired kidney or liver function should also refrain from taking it. It is contraindicated in late pregnancy or breastfeeding. Patients with renal impairment, heart failure, elderly patients, and those with high blood pressure should exercise more caution when taking this medication and require regular monitoring of renal and liver function during treatment. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal adverse reactions, dizziness, and increased liver enzyme levels, while severe side effects such as skin rashes, blood disorders, and heart issues may occur infrequently. Before taking this medication, it is necessary to check for interactions with other drugs, especially when used with anticoagulants, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, lithium, or anticancer drugs. During pregnancy, especially in the last three months, this medication should not be used, and women planning to become pregnant should also avoid taking it. Nursing mothers should consult a doctor or discontinue breastfeeding while taking this medication. The safety and effectiveness of this medication have not been established in children and adolescents, so it is recommended not to be used in this population. Elderly patients are at increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and perforation, therefore they should be particularly careful.
