This medication is used to effectively disinfect the patient's skin before surgery and before inserting a syringe needle or catheter.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Apply to the disinfected area.

Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients who have had allergic reactions to chlorhexidine or isopropanol. It should not be used for disinfecting surgical instruments. Direct use on critical areas such as the brain, spinal cord, eyes, and ears should be avoided, as it may cause hearing loss or nerve damage. It should not be used on mucous membranes, especially in the genital region, as it is not safe. It is advisable not to use it in infants under 2 months of age. Patients with allergies to other medications or with allergic diseases such as asthma, or those with a family history should exercise caution when using this medication. Rarely, shock reactions may occur when using this drug; therefore, if symptoms such as nausea, discomfort, cold sweat, dizziness, difficulty breathing, or skin redness appear, usage should be immediately stopped, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Allergic reactions such as skin rash or hives may occur, and usage should cease if such symptoms appear. In severe cases, there is a risk of anaphylactic shock, so caution is advised. Also, exposure to sunlight may cause an excessive reaction of the skin. Before use, a history of allergies to chlorhexidine must be confirmed, and patients who have experienced shock with this drug in the past should be particularly careful. Care should be taken not to use excessive amounts, and the alcohol content should also be considered. This drug is a topical preparation for application only to the skin, and extreme care should be taken to prevent it from entering the eyes. If it comes into contact with the eyes, it should be rinsed immediately with plenty of clean water, as severe damage to the cornea may occur. Caution should be exercised to avoid long-term use over large areas of skin or inhalation of vapors. Before use, the skin should be cleaned with soap or detergent to prevent interference with the sterilizing effect of this drug.
