Aldect 480 mg (R-Alpha-Lipoic Acid Salt)

Adult dose

Adults: Take 480 milligrams of thioctic acid tromethamine salt once daily with plenty of water, approximately 30 minutes before breakfast.

This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to the components related to R-Alpha-Lipoic Acid Salt. Also, since this medication contains Yellow No. 4 (Tartrazine), patients with a history of allergy to this ingredient should use it with caution. Side effects may include sensory disturbances, pain, headaches, constipation, and dry mouth, and rarely, serious side effects such as nephrolithiasis may occur. People who consume alcohol frequently may experience reduced effectiveness of this medication, so it is advisable to avoid alcohol as much as possible. This medication may not be well absorbed when taken with drugs containing certain metal components or milk, so it is important to space out the dosing times. When used together with blood glucose-lowering medications, blood sugar levels may drop too low, so blood glucose status should be checked frequently and, if necessary, the medication dosage should be adjusted. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consider the benefits and risks of this medication and consult a doctor before taking it. It is safer to avoid administering this medication to children under 18 years, as there is no experience with its use in this age group. In case of overdose, severe toxicity symptoms can occur, so immediate medical attention should be sought. Finally, this medication should be stored in a cool place below 30 degrees Celsius, out of the reach of children, and it is recommended not to transfer it to another container.
