Precautions

This medication should be used with great caution in elderly patients who have psychotic symptoms related to dementia, as there may be an increased risk of mortality. The risk of cerebrovascular events may be elevated in patients with dementia, so those with risk factors for stroke should be more cautious with its use. There is a risk of venous thromboembolism, so it is crucial to confirm if there are risk factors for thromboembolism and take preventive measures. Patients in a coma or taking strong central nervous system depressants should not use this medication. Drug interactions may occur if taken with specific antifungal agents or HIV medications, therefore concurrent use should be avoided. Patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should also not take this medication. Individuals with suspected cardiovascular diseases or hypotension should be careful as blood pressure may temporarily drop. Patients with Parkinson's disease or Lewy body dementia should use it cautiously as symptoms may worsen. If there are seizure disorders like epilepsy, there may be an increased risk of seizures, so care should be taken. Those with thoughts of suicide or a history of attempts should consult with a doctor as symptoms may worsen. Patients with impaired liver function may have increased drug levels requiring dosage adjustment and monitoring. Patients with diabetes or risk factors for diabetes may experience elevated blood glucose levels, necessitating frequent monitoring of blood sugar levels. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid use or consult a specialist as it may affect the fetus or newborn. This medication can cause drowsiness or decreased concentration, so caution is needed when driving or operating hazardous machinery. If any abnormal symptoms or discomfort occur during medication use, it is crucial to consult healthcare professionals immediately. It is advisable to take this medication after meals, as taking it on an empty stomach may reduce its efficacy. Due to the possibility of interactions with other medications, it is essential to inform healthcare professionals if taking other drugs. Especially since it is metabolized in the liver, caution is needed when used with drugs that inhibit or induce CYP3A4 enzymes.
