Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients allergic to α-lipoic acid or other excipients. Furthermore, as there is no clinical experience in children and adolescents, it is advisable not to administer this age group. During the course of treatment, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may rarely occur. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes, urticaria, or itching may also occur, so caution is advised. Blood sugar levels may fall, so if symptoms of hypoglycemia such as dizziness, sweating, headache, or visual disturbances occur, immediate confirmation is necessary. Occasionally, taste disturbances have been reported, and if any abnormalities are felt, consultation with a healthcare professional is recommended. Avoiding alcohol consumption while taking this medication is advisable, as it may exacerbate neurological symptoms and reduce the effectiveness of the drug. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of the specific anticancer drug cisplatin, so it is preferable not to take them together. If taken with preparations containing iron, magnesium, or calcium, absorption in the body may be hindered, so it should be taken at intervals. When taken with insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents, blood sugar may drop too low, necessitating frequent blood sugar checks and dosage adjustments if necessary. If pregnant or breastfeeding, this medication should be taken according to a physician's instructions after carefully assessing the benefits and risks. In cases of overdose, severe toxicity symptoms may occur, so if suspected, immediate medical treatment is required. This medication should not be stored at temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius and must be kept in a safe place out of the reach of children. Also, transferring this medication from its original container to another may reduce its quality, so it must be stored in its original container.
