Thioctic acid supplementation; treatment of inner ear hearing loss and Leigh syndrome
Thioctic acid is used to supplement nutrient deficiencies that may occur during intense physical labor, and to improve rare neurological diseases such as Leigh syndrome, as well as toxicity-induced sensorineural hearing loss due to streptomycin and kanamycin, and occupational sensorineural hearing loss caused by noise. It is recommended to discontinue use if no effect is observed after approximately one month of use. This medication can help alleviate symptoms of neurological dysfunction and hearing loss.
Usually, administer 10~25mg of thioctic acid intravenously once daily to adults. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to age and symptoms.
This medication is an ampoule injection, and glass fragments may detach when cutting the container and mix with the medication. Care must be taken when cutting the container to prevent glass pieces from entering the body, which can cause side effects. Extra caution is advised when using it for children or elderly patients. The exact frequency of possible side effects while using this medication is not known. However, gastrointestinal symptoms such as decreased appetite, nausea, and diarrhea may occur. Skin rashes, headaches, dizziness, and palpitations may also be reported. Older adults may have weakened physical functions, so the dosage should be reduced or used with caution.
