Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who have an allergy to α-lipoic acid or its excipients. There is insufficient clinical experience with this medication in children and adolescents, so it is safe not to administer it to patients in this age group. Occasionally, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or diarrhea may occur during treatment; if symptoms are severe, consult a physician. Rarely, allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives, or itching may develop, and if such symptoms occur, notify medical personnel immediately. This medication can lower blood sugar levels, leading to symptoms of hypoglycemia such as dizziness, sweating, headaches, and vision disturbances; therefore, diabetic patients should exercise particular caution. Taste disturbances have been reported rarely; if there are changes in taste perception during use, it should be reported. If alcohol is frequently consumed, nerve damage may worsen, so diabetic neuropathy patients should avoid alcohol intake, even during the period of discontinuation of the medication. This medication may reduce the efficacy of the specific anticancer drug cisplatin, so avoid simultaneous use. When taken with preparations containing iron, magnesium, calcium, or milk, the drug may not be well absorbed in the body, so dosing times should be adjusted. When taken with insulin or oral antidiabetic agents, the blood sugar-lowering effect may be enhanced, so it is important to regularly check blood sugar levels and adjust the dosage if necessary. If pregnant or breastfeeding, the benefits and risks of this medication should be carefully evaluated and used according to a physician's instructions. In case of overdose, severe toxicity symptoms and life-threatening conditions may occur, so if the dosage is exceeded or overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. Store the medication in a tightly sealed container to prevent air and moisture from entering, and keep it at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. This will help maintain the medication's effectiveness and prevent degradation.
