Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics. If symptoms of shock such as nausea, cold extremities, or difficulty breathing occur while using this medication, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. Additionally, hypersensitivity reactions such as cardiovascular collapse, angioedema, difficulty breathing, rash, or itching may occur, and if these symptoms arise, administration should be stopped immediately. Transient burning or irritation and discomfort may occur in the eye, and rarely, serious eye conditions like keratitis or in severe cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome may develop, so discontinue use and consult a specialist if symptoms appear. Hearing impairment or irritation symptoms have also been reported rarely, so caution is advised. Long-term use of this medication can lead to the emergence of resistant bacteria or an increase in fungal infections, so it should only be used for the minimum required duration, and appropriate treatment should be conducted based on sensitivity testing of the infecting organisms. In particular, elderly patients or those using this medication along with corticosteroids may have an increased risk of tendonitis or tendon rupture, so should discontinue use immediately if pain or inflammation occurs. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established; nursing mothers should either stop breastfeeding or discontinue the medication. Safety and efficacy have not been established for infants under 1 year of age, so it should not be used in this population. This medication is an eye drop solution intended for use in the eye only, and care should be taken to avoid direct contact of the container tip with the eye, and to avoid sharing to prevent contamination. When stored, keep it in a sealed container out of reach of children, in a cool place away from direct sunlight, and do not transfer to another container to maintain the quality of the medication.
