Improvement of neuropathic pain, myalgia, etc., related to vitamin B1 deficiency and metabolic disorders
This medication is used to prevent and treat vitamin B1 deficiency. It is effective in supplementing vitamin B1 when it is insufficient in the diet, such as in cases of hyperthyroidism, during pregnancy, lactation, or during strenuous physical labor. It also helps in neuropathic and cardiovascular diseases related to vitamin B1 deficiency, such as Wernicke's encephalopathy and beri-beri heart disease. It is used for symptoms such as neuropathic pain, myalgia, arthralgia, and peripheral neuropathy, as well as in cases involving vitamin B1 deficiency associated with myocardial metabolic disorders, gastrointestinal motility disorders, and postoperative bowel paralysis. However, it is important not to use this medication without purpose for more than one month if it is not related to vitamin B1 deficiency or metabolic disorders. This medication is used to improve and treat various symptoms caused by vitamin B1 deficiency.
As fursultiamine, the usual adult dose is 5 to 100 mg per day administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or intravenously. The dose should be adjusted according to the symptoms.
This medication is available in glass ampoules, and care should be taken when cutting the ampoule to avoid the risk of glass fragments entering the solution. Extra caution is needed especially when used for children or the elderly. People who have previously had an allergic reaction to this medication or any of its components should not use it. Patients with a history of drug allergic reactions should exercise caution when using this medication. Rarely, serious allergic reactions such as shock may occur while using this medication, so if symptoms such as a drop in blood pressure, chest pain, or difficulty breathing occur, use should be discontinued immediately and appropriate medical treatment sought. Additionally, rare side effects such as skin allergy symptoms like rashes, nausea or vomiting, oral inflammation, diarrhea, headaches, and frequent urination may occur, so if any symptoms appear, they should be reported. When administering by injection, it is advisable to inject slowly as pain may occur in the vessel. To prevent bacterial contamination, leftover solution after use should not be reused. When cutting the ampoule, it should be held with the mark facing upward and force should be applied downward to cleanly break it, and the top of the ampoule should be wiped with alcohol cotton to prevent foreign matter from entering. This medication should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children, and it should be kept in its original container to prevent accidents or deterioration in drug quality.
