Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients undergoing dialysis treatment. This is because long-term use can cause aluminum to accumulate in the body, potentially leading to issues with the brain and bones. It should also not be administered to children under 15 years of age. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients with low phosphate levels, patients with weakened cardiac function, patients with diarrhea, patients with elevated magnesium levels in the blood, and patients with poor kidney function. In particular, patients with impaired kidney function are at risk for problems with the brain and bones due to aluminum accumulation when used long-term, so regular blood tests should be conducted to monitor levels of aluminum, phosphorus, calcium, and alkaline phosphatase. If this medication is used for an extended period in high doses, blood magnesium levels may rise or phosphate levels may decrease, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored. If abnormal symptoms occur, it may be necessary to reduce the dosage or temporarily discontinue use. Additionally, gastrointestinal side effects such as reduced appetite, dry mouth, diarrhea, or constipation may occasionally occur, so caution is advised. This medication may interfere with the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, so it is recommended not to take them together. Also, this medication may affect the absorption or excretion of other drugs in the gastrointestinal tract, so caution should be exercised when used in combination. Taking this medication in conjunction with milk or calcium preparations in large amounts may increase blood calcium and nitrogen levels and result in symptoms of alkalosis, so if these symptoms occur, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a physician.
