This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet orally once a day.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of blood clots, so caution is needed for patients with a history of thrombosis or those at high risk of thrombosis. This medication is primarily metabolized in the liver, so its use is not recommended for patients with poor liver function, and close observation is necessary if signs of liver dysfunction are present during treatment. The use of this medication has not been approved for premenopausal women, so it should not be taken. Caution is warranted when using this medication in postmenopausal women at high risk of cardiovascular disease as it may increase the risk of death from stroke. This medication should not be used for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, and its combined use with other hormonal therapies is not recommended as safety has not been established. Women who are pregnant, might become pregnant, or are nursing should not take this medication due to potential harm to the fetus or newborn. Patients with a history of thrombosis, liver impairment, uterine bleeding, suspicion of endometrial cancer symptoms, those with prolonged immobilization, and patients with certain metabolic disorders should not take this medication. Patients with hypertriglyceridemia, renal impairment, kidney stones, and those taking certain medications should use caution and regularly monitor their condition under a doctor's guidance. Side effects such as vasodilation, leg cramps, cold symptoms, peripheral edema may occur during treatment; notify healthcare professionals if abnormal symptoms appear. This medication is used together with vitamin D supplements, and patients at high risk of vitamin D deficiency may need additional supplementation. Drug interactions may occur when taking with other medications, so inform healthcare professionals of any medications being taken. In case of overdose, symptoms such as dizziness, vomiting, and muscle cramps may occur; seek immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment. Safety and efficacy have not been established for children, and special caution is needed for elderly patients. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container may compromise its quality, so care should be taken.

Serious side effects

Venous thromboembolism including deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, retinal vein thrombosis, stroke, thrombocytopenia, hypertension, headache including migraine, arterial thromboembolism, retinal vein occlusion, and death related to venous thromboembolism.

Mild side effects

Vasodilation (facial flushing), leg cramps, cold symptoms, peripheral edema, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, headache, rash, breast symptoms (pain, swelling, tenderness, etc.), vaginal bleeding, facial swelling, heartburn, constipation, itching, palpitations, fever, weakness, sweating, myalgia, insomnia, perineal pain, weight gain, arthralgia, rheumatological symptoms, pain, fatigue, discomfort, chest tightness, skin lesions, anxiety, weight loss, convulsions, vision changes.

Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.

Storage

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture. The recommended storage temperature is between 1°C and 30°C.
