This medication is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis that may occur in postmenopausal women. Osteoporosis is a condition where bones become weak and are at high risk for fractures, especially common in postmenopausal women. This drug helps maintain bone strength and slows down bone loss, thereby reducing the risk of fractures. Regular use can improve bone health and increase mobility in daily life. Therefore, it is effectively used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

How to take

Adult dose

1 tablet orally, once a day.

Precautions

This drug may increase the risk of blood clots in the bloodstream; therefore, patients with a history of thrombosis or those at high risk for thrombosis need careful assessment before administration. If a condition limiting movement occurs during treatment, use should be immediately discontinued, and it can be restarted after symptoms improve. This drug is primarily metabolized in the liver, so its use is not recommended in patients with impaired liver function, and liver function test values should be regularly monitored. The use of this drug has not been approved for premenopausal women, so it should not be administered to them. Postmenopausal women with a history of cardiovascular disease or high risk factors should be cautious as the risk of fatal stroke may increase with administration. This medication should not be used for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, and its safety has not been established when combined with other hormonal therapies, hence is not recommended. Pregnant women or those who might become pregnant and nursing mothers should not take this medication as it could be harmful to fetuses or newborns.
