S-Amlodipine Tablets 2.5 mg (S-Amlodipine Besylate 2.5 Hydrate)

Adult dose

Administer 2.5 mg orally once daily as S-amlo dipine, and may be increased to a maximum of 5 mg daily depending on the patient's response. This medication should be taken with a sufficient amount of water.

This medicine should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients allergic to this drug or similar components, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, nursing women, patients in shock, those with severe aortic stenosis, unstable angina patients, patients who have recently experienced a myocardial infarction, patients with severe liver function impairment, and those with severe hypotension should not be administered this medication. Additionally, caution should be exercised with patients with very poor kidney function, the elderly, patients with acute heart failure, patients with rapidly increasing blood pressure, and patients with mild to moderate liver function impairment. This drug can have side effects, with the most common being flushing accompanied by warmth, fatigue, swelling, palpitations, dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, nausea, drowsiness, and ankle edema. Rarely, symptoms such as dry mouth or excessive sweating, a heavy or lethargic feeling, blood pressure drop, dizziness due to orthostatic hypotension, vasculitis, syncope, insomnia, depression, skin rash, and liver function abnormalities may occur, so if these symptoms arise, immediate consultation with a medical professional is advised. Abruptly stopping this medication can worsen symptoms; therefore, dosage should not be stopped without a doctor's instruction and should be gradually reduced. Patients with weakened liver or heart function should take special care when using this medication, and since this drug lowers blood pressure slowly, it is not suitable for emergency situations. When taking this medication, it should be consumed with plenty of water, and caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. Interactions with other medications may occur, so if taking other drugs, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist, and taking it with grapefruit juice is not recommended. It is generally safe to avoid using this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and its use is recommended only for patients aged six and older. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, cardiac abnormalities, and coma may occur, and immediate emergency treatment is required, while hemodialysis is not effective. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to another container.

Serious side effects

Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, clinical symptoms of liver dysfunction (weakness, anorexia, persistent nausea), jaundice, paralysis, coma, hypotension, shock, myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, heart block.
