Adult dosage
This medication should be swallowed with liquid such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg taken once daily for 4 weeks. An additional 4 weeks may be taken if necessary. - Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of esophagitis: 20 mg taken once daily. - Symptomatic treatment of GERD without esophagitis: 20 mg taken once daily.
Children's dosage
Adolescents aged 12 years and older should be administered the same dosage as adults. There is no experience in administering this medication to children under 12 years of age.

This medication is used as a long-term maintenance therapy to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease and prevent the recurrence of erosive esophagitis in patients with esophagitis. It is also effective in treating and preventing recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers in combination with antibiotics aimed at eradicating Helicobacter pylori. Along with treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms that may occur due to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, it also aids in treating and preventing gastric ulcers in patients on long-term analgesics. It is used to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and maintenance therapy after rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers to stabilize the patient's condition and improve symptoms. Overall, it is widely used for the treatment and prevention of peptic ulcers and gastrointestinal diseases.
