Precautions

This medication should not be taken by patients with inflammatory bowel disease or intestinal obstruction. It should also be avoided in cases of unexplained abdominal pain or a risk of perforation in the gastrointestinal tract. Patients allergic to lactose or any components of this medication should refrain from use. It is also safer for genetically lactose intolerant patients to avoid this medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking it. Care should be taken when giving it to infants or children as it may affect bowel reflex. Elderly patients should have their electrolyte levels monitored regularly if taking it for a long time. Diabetic patients or those with fructose intolerance should consult a specialist before taking it. Patients with fluid or electrolyte imbalances should correct their condition before taking it. Patients with acute gastritis or chronic constipation should consider other treatment options before using this medication. When taken with certain drugs, side effects or reduced efficacy may occur, so it is essential to consult a specialist. If constipation does not improve during use or there are sudden changes in bowel habits, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Overdose may result in abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and electrolyte loss; if any abnormal symptoms occur, discontinue use and seek professional treatment. Long-term or excessive use can lead to dependence of normal bowel reflex on the medication, so caution is necessary. If diarrhea or loose stools occur, it is advisable to reduce the dose or discontinue. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as belching, abdominal discomfort, nausea, and vomiting may occur; if symptoms are severe, consult a doctor. Before endoscopic examinations, due to the high concentration of intestinal hydrogen gas posing a risk of explosion, the intestines should be thoroughly cleaned before the procedure. Long-term use may lead to electrolyte imbalances, necessitating regular testing. Caution should be exercised regarding dental hygiene for children taking it long-term as there is a risk of cavities. Although safety for the fetus has not been reported for pregnant women, it is preferable to consult an expert before taking it. Nursing mothers should also consult a specialist to determine the effects on the baby. This medication should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children, preferably sealed in its original container.
