This medication is used for the treatment of ocular inflammation associated with dry keratoconjunctivitis due to decreased tear production. It promotes tear secretion to keep the eyes moist and alleviates inflammation to improve symptoms.

How to apply drops

Adult eye dose

Instill 1 drop of this medicine in each eye twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart. If this medicine is used at the same time as artificial tears, administer them 15 minutes apart. Discard any remaining solution and the container after instillation.

Precautions

This medication should be used with caution in patients with a history of herpetic keratitis, as sufficient studies have not been conducted. Due to the often insufficient increase in tear production, its effectiveness may be limited in patients using punctal plugs or topical anti-inflammatory drugs. It should not be used in patients with active eye infections or hypersensitivity to any of its components. The most common side effect when using this drug is burning sensation in the eyes, and symptoms such as conjunctival congestion, eye pain, foreign body sensation, and itching may occur. Rarely, eye swelling or severe allergic reactions resulting in swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing may occur, so if any unusual symptoms arise, immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary. Care should be taken to avoid contact between the tip of the container and the eye to prevent injury. Vision may temporarily blur after administration; therefore, driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided until vision returns to normal. Safety in pregnant women has not been established, so it should only be used cautiously when absolutely necessary, and caution is also advised during breastfeeding. Safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established in children under 16 years of age. Once opened, the remaining medication should be discarded after a single use, and if contact lenses are worn, they should be removed before use and can be reinserted after 15 minutes. Store out of the reach of children and do not use expired medication.
