Precautions

This medication may cause side effects due to the presence of glass fragments when using the ampoule injection; therefore, great care should be taken when cutting the container. Extra caution is especially needed when used by children or the elderly. This medication should not be administered to certain patients, including those with allergies to the medication, patients with aldosteronism, muscle diseases, and patients with low potassium levels in the blood, as their symptoms may worsen. In elderly patients, hypokalemia may occur more frequently, so it should be used cautiously. There is also a risk of allergic reactions or asthma attacks due to the sodium bisulfite ingredient. Serious allergic reactions such as hypotension, respiratory distress, or loss of consciousness may occur during administration; therefore, patients should be closely monitored, and if any abnormal symptoms arise, administration should be immediately stopped, and appropriate treatment should be provided. Additionally, long-term use or high doses can result in hypokalemia, elevated blood pressure, fluid retention, and edema, so potassium levels should be regularly checked through blood tests. Caution should also be taken as symptoms such as weakness or decreased muscle strength may arise when taking this medication. Taking this medication together with other drugs that contain licorice may exacerbate side effects; therefore, care is needed when combined. Furthermore, potassium levels in the blood may decrease even further if used with certain diuretics, necessitating regular blood tests. Women who are pregnant or of childbearing potential should only use this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks, after consulting a doctor. Elderly patients have an increased risk of side effects, so they should be carefully monitored during administration. When administering intravenously, the injection speed should be slow to reduce vascular pain and the patient's condition should be monitored closely. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in the original container to maintain its quality and prevent misuse.
