Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension
When essential hypertension is not adequately controlled, additional treatment may be required to effectively manage blood pressure through combination therapy of telmisartan and amlodipine. Essential hypertension primarily aims to reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications by controlling blood pressure. This treatment plays an essential role in improving hypertension and preventing complications.
Take one tablet once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). For patients whose blood pressure is not controlled, 40/5/12.5 mg should be administered, adjusting the dose based on the patient’s blood pressure response at intervals of more than 2 weeks. The maximum dose is 80/10/25 mg.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take it. People allergic to this medication or similar drugs, those with severe liver or kidney disease, certain heart disease patients, and cholestatic disease cases should not take this medication. Patients with primary aldosteronism, certain heart valve diseases, liver diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, renovascular hypertension, the elderly, etc. should use this medication with caution under the supervision of a doctor. During treatment with this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, edema, nausea, and fatigue may occur; if symptoms are severe or persistent, consult a healthcare professional. This medication can strongly lower blood pressure, so if symptoms of hypotension occur, rest immediately and seek medical treatment if necessary. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, diuretics, heart medications, analgesics, etc., so inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications. This medication should not be used during pregnancy, and if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be discontinued immediately and alternative treatment sought. It is also recommended that breastfeeding women avoid this medication, and if unavoidable, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Safety and effectiveness in children under 18 years have not been established; hence it is not recommended. Elderly patients should start with a low dose and gradually increase it, taking particular care to avoid side effects such as dehydration or hypotension. In case of overdose, hypotension, dizziness, and heart problems may occur, so seek proper treatment immediately from a medical institution. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and not transferred to another container for safety. Be cautious as dizziness or drowsiness may occur while driving or operating dangerous machinery.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweats, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, peeling skin, pain in the mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy, sudden and very severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, urination.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a container that blocks light. It is also important to store it at a temperature between 1°C and 30°C to maintain the efficacy of the medication.
