How to take

Adult dose

This medication can be taken regardless of meals, but it is recommended to take it at the same time every day. 1. Hypertension The recommended initial dose and maintenance dose for adults is 50 mg orally once daily as Losartan Potassium. If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, the dose may be divided into twice daily or increased to 100 mg once daily. 2. Kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension Usually 50 mg once daily as this medication.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters; therefore, pregnant women should not take it. If pregnancy is confirmed, this medication should be discontinued immediately, and care should be taken as it may affect the health of the fetus and newborn. Patients with certain conditions or those who have previously shown allergic reactions to this medication or its ingredients should not take it. Patients with severely impaired liver function or hereditary lactase deficiency should also avoid this medication. Elderly patients, those with weakened kidney function, and patients with hyperkalemia should use this medication with caution and have their blood pressure or kidney function monitored regularly. This medication lowers blood pressure, which may lead to dizziness or hypotension symptoms at the start of treatment or when increasing the dose, so caution is advised. If severe hypotension or renal failure symptoms occur, consult a doctor immediately, and in severe cases, the medication may need to be discontinued. It is advisable not to take potassium supplements or potassium-rich foods without consulting a doctor while on this medication. Additionally, there may be interactions with other drugs, so inform your doctor about any medications you are currently taking. Side effects may include headache, dizziness, muscle pain, indigestion, cough, etc., and if abnormal symptoms persist, consult a doctor. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication and breastfeeding women should avoid taking it. This medication is not used in children under the age of 6 as its safety and efficacy have not been adequately established. It should be stored out of reach of children and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
