Improvement of hypertension and hyperlipidemia, reduction of cardiovascular disease risk
This medication is used as a first-line treatment for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not well controlled with either amlodipine or losartan alone or for patients with stage 2 hypertension who need combination therapy to reach their target blood pressure. Moreover, the rosuvastatin component is effective as an adjunct therapy in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia who are difficult to manage with diet and exercise alone. This medication also acts as an adjunct to dietary therapy for patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or dysbetalipoproteinemia, lowering total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels, thereby slowing the progression of atherosclerosis. Particularly, it helps reduce the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and arterial revascularization in patients at high risk for cardiovascular diseases. Overall, this medication is used to manage both blood pressure and cholesterol levels simultaneously to improve cardiovascular health.
The recommended dosage of the amlodipine/losartan combination is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). If blood pressure is still not adequately controlled, the dosage may be increased to 10/50 mg once daily after 2 weeks. Rosuvastatin should be started at 5 mg once daily in adults and may be maintained at 10 mg once daily if necessary.

This medication can cause serious muscle-related side effects such as myalgia, myopathy, and rarely, rhabdomyolysis, so if muscle pain or weakness occurs, consult a physician immediately. Regular blood tests and liver function tests are necessary as liver or kidney function impairments may occur.
