Patients with chronic active hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, hypokalemia, severe pancreatic disease, peptic ulcer, or cholelithiasis should exercise special caution when using this medication. Taking this medication may occasionally result in gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, and rarely abdominal pain, constipation, heartburn, or feelings of discomfort in the upper abdomen may occur. Transient jaundice may occur; however, symptoms can disappear if the medication is discontinued or if jaundice treatments are used. Rarely, generalized malaise or dizziness may occur, so caution is needed. In a study of 640 chronic persistent hepatitis patients over 6 years, some reported liver cirrhosis, ascites, and acute hepatitis C, indicating the need for caution due to the potential for serious side effects. It is essential to adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and frequency. If symptoms do not improve or abnormal symptoms occur after a maximum of 8 weeks of treatment, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. It is important to keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Animal studies have shown toxicity to the fetus, so it is advisable for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant to avoid using this medication. When taken with oral antidiabetic medications, the effect of the diabetes medications may increase, so patients taking such medications should consult a doctor and use with caution.
