In cases where cilostazol monotherapy is insufficiently effective, the combination therapy of cilostazol and Ginkgo Biloba extract may be used as an alternative therapy. This combination therapy helps improve ischemic symptoms such as ulcers, pain, and coldness caused by chronic arterial occlusive disease—such as Buerger's disease, obliterative arterial sclerosis, and diabetic peripheral vascular disease—and is also effective in preventing the recurrence of cerebral infarction (excluding cardiogenic cerebral embolism). It is recommended to proceed with treatment confidently as this approach can improve blood circulation and contribute to symptom relief.

Precautions

This medication may cause increased heart rate, leading to angina symptoms, thus it is important to closely monitor for such symptoms. It should not be used in patients with a risk of bleeding, recent hemorrhagic stroke, or those who have undergone surgery. It is also not administered to patients with heart failure, those allergic to the components of this medicine, pregnant or breastfeeding women. Patients with lactose intolerance should not take this medication. The risk of bleeding may increase when taken with anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs, necessitating caution. Women menstruating or patients with heart disease, as well as those with impaired kidney and liver function, should be administered with care. Serious side effects such as bleeding, blood disorders, interstitial pneumonia, and heart disease may arise, so any abnormal signs should prompt immediate consultation with a physician. Many side effects, including headaches, dyspepsia, skin rash, insomnia, and dizziness, may occur, so it is essential to monitor symptoms closely. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery, as dizziness may occur. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should refrain from taking this medication, and breastfeeding should be discontinued if necessary. Safety in children and infants has not been established, so use should be avoided. Elderly patients may require dose adjustments due to decreased bodily functions. Overdose can lead to headaches, diarrhea, hypotension, and cardiac arrhythmias, necessitating immediate treatment. This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container away from direct sunlight, in a cool, dry place, and out of reach of children.
