This medication helps control high blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension, stabilizing blood pressure and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It is also used to improve symptoms of heart failure and cardiac function in patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction who require combination therapy with ACE inhibitors or have poor tolerance to ACE inhibitors. Therefore, it is effectively used for the treatment of hypertension and heart failure.

Precautions

This drug may cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so immediate discontinuation is required upon confirmation of pregnancy. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not use this drug. Patients with severely impaired liver function or specific hereditary diseases should also refrain from taking this drug. Elderly individuals, patients with hyperkalemia, and those with mildly impaired liver function should use this medication cautiously, particularly by regularly monitoring blood pressure and renal function. During treatment with this drug, side effects such as dizziness, back pain, and respiratory infections may occur, so any abnormal symptoms should be discussed with a healthcare provider. Heart failure patients may experience side effects such as low blood pressure, hyperkalemia, and worsening kidney function, thus requiring regular blood tests. If this drug is taken with other antihypertensive medications, the blood pressure-lowering effect may be enhanced, so it should be taken according to healthcare provider's instructions. Especially caution is needed when taken with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, as blood potassium levels may become dangerously high. Dizziness may occur when driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. In case of overdose, low blood pressure and dizziness may occur, requiring an immediate visit to a medical facility; this drug is not eliminated by hemodialysis. Keep out of the reach of children and do not transfer to other containers for safety.
