Adult dose

As sildenafil, the recommended dose is 25 to 50 mg taken orally approximately 1 hour before sexual activity, and it may be administered between 4 hours and 30 minutes before sexual activity if needed. The dosage may be adjusted according to efficacy and tolerance.

This medication may affect the cardiovascular system, so there is a risk of dangerously low blood pressure if nitrates or nitric oxide donors are used before or during treatment. Therefore, physicians must confirm whether the patient is taking such medications, and care must be taken not to use them simultaneously. Patients with cardiovascular diseases should be thoroughly evaluated before using this medication, and it should not be used in patients where sexual activity may pose a burden on the heart. This medication can cause temporary lowering of blood pressure in a supine position by dilating blood vessels, so special caution is required for patients with underlying cardiovascular diseases. Furthermore, patients who have experienced serious heart problems or cerebrovascular diseases within the past 6 months, patients with hypotension or uncontrolled hypertension, and patients with pigmentary retinopathy should not use this medication. If an erection lasts more than 4 hours after taking this medication, immediate medical attention should be sought to avoid penile tissue damage and loss of erectile function. The concentration of this medication in the blood may significantly increase when taken with certain protease inhibitors; thus, dosage adjustments are required for patients taking such medications. The artificial sweetener aspartame included in this medication should not be administered to patients with phenylketonuria. This medication should not be used in individuals under the age of 18 or in women. Common side effects upon taking include headaches, flushing, dyspepsia, dizziness, and visual disturbances; if symptoms are severe or persistent, consultation with a physician is necessary. Caution is advised while driving or operating machinery as dizziness or visual disturbances may occur. It is safe not to take this medication in conjunction with other erectile dysfunction treatments due to possible drug interactions; thus, patients must consult their physician or pharmacist regarding any other medications they are taking. In case of overdose, appropriate treatment is required based on symptoms, and the drug is not removed by renal dialysis.
