Adult dose

Before administration, an appropriate lipid-lowering dietary regimen must be established and maintained throughout the treatment period. This medication should be taken with food to avoid gastrointestinal disturbances. For hypertriglyceridemia, the usual initial dose is 2g (2 capsules) once daily, which can be increased up to 4g per day if necessary. It is administered once or twice a day.

This medication is not to be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to its components or to children under 18 years of age. It should be used cautiously in patients at high risk of bleeding due to severe trauma or surgery, those with liver dysfunction, and patients with fish allergies. While taking this medication, various adverse reactions such as back pain, cold symptoms, dyspepsia, rash, and taste abnormalities may occur; if symptoms persist or worsen, consultation with a physician is advised. In clinical trials and post-marketing studies, side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, nausea, and itching have been reported, although serious side effects are rare. There is a possibility of atrial fibrillation occurring, thus patients with cardiovascular diseases or risk factors should be particularly cautious, and treatment should be discontinued if atrial fibrillation occurs. Regular monitoring of triglyceride levels is necessary to confirm treatment efficacy during the administration of this medication, and it should be discontinued if ineffective. Dietary and exercise regimens should be undertaken alongside this medication as it does not diminish the importance of diet control. This medication is not used for exogenous hypertriglyceridemia, and some patients may experience elevated liver enzyme levels, thus regular liver function tests are necessary. When taken with anticoagulants or acetylsalicylic acid, there may be an increased risk of bleeding, hence blood coagulation status should be regularly monitored. During pregnancy, this medication should only be used if necessary, considering the risks to the fetus, and breastfeeding women should also exercise caution while taking it. In the event of an overdose, as there is no specific antidote, appropriate treatment and supportive care based on symptoms are required. It is not recommended for use in children or adolescents under 18 years, as safety and efficacy have not been established. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to other containers may result in accidents or deterioration of quality.
