Prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency
Vitamin D is used to prevent and treat deficiencies in the elderly, adolescents, and adults. Vitamin D deficiency significantly affects bone health; therefore, this medicine helps improve deficiency states and maintain health. Thus, it is used to prevent and treat vitamin D deficiency in all age groups where vitamin D is lacking.
Administer 200,000 IU of cholecalciferol via intramuscular injection. Elderly patients should receive 100,000 IU of cholecalciferol via intramuscular injection. Ensure that the annual total does not exceed 600,000 IU of cholecalciferol.

This medication contains vitamin D, so overdosing should be avoided. When using with vitamin D fortified foods or other vitamin D preparations, total vitamin D intake should be verified. Blood calcium levels should be monitored periodically to ensure they do not exceed normal ranges, especially if serum calcium is above 10.5 mg/dL or urinary calcium exceeds certain criteria, use should be discontinued. In cases of high calcium intake, it is important to regularly observe calcium levels in the blood and urine. Individuals with allergies to any component of this drug, hypercalcemia, calcium stones, or kidney disorders should not use it. Additionally, immobile patients, patients with specific diseases, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should also refrain from using this medicine. During use, various side effects may occur such as headache, fatigue, muscle pain, digestive disturbances, thirst, increased urine output, elevated blood pressure, and kidney issues; if any abnormal symptoms occur, medical consultation should be sought immediately. In particular, blood levels of vitamin D and parathyroid hormone should be monitored periodically to prevent side effects from overdose. Those with reduced kidney function, elderly patients, or those taking certain diuretics or cardiac medications must undergo regular kidney function tests and may require dose adjustments. This drug may interact with other medications; therefore, if taking anticonvulsants, steroids, certain diuretics, antacids, or anticoagulants, medical personnel should be informed. It is advisable not to use this medication during pregnancy as overdose can harm the fetus. Its safety and efficacy have not been established for children under the age of 12, hence it should not be used in this age group. In case of overdose, this drug should be stopped immediately, calcium intake should be reduced, and hydration should be increased while diuresis-promoting treatment may be necessary. This medication should not be mixed with other medications, should be used quickly after opening, and any remaining drug should be discarded. Store this drug in a sealed container that prevents light exposure at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way will keep its components stable and safe for use.
