This medicine is used as an adjunctive therapy when diet and exercise are insufficient to control primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It is also used as an adjunct to treat patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or dysbetalipoproteinemia. It lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels, thereby delaying the progression of atherosclerosis and is also used in children aged 10 to under 17 who meet specific criteria for heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. Additionally, it is effective in reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and arterial revascularization in adults with elevated high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels and other cardiovascular risk factors. This medicine is used to improve cardiovascular health by controlling cholesterol levels.
