Treatment of hypertension and heart failure (left ventricular function damage), improvement of hypercholesterolemia, reduction of cardiovascular disease risk
This medicine is prescribed for patients who need to use the two drugs, Candesartan Cilexetil and Rosuvastatin, together. Candesartan Cilexetil is primarily used in patients with essential hypertension and heart failure with left ventricular systolic dysfunction, especially when additional therapy to ACE inhibitors is needed or when there is poor tolerance. Rosuvastatin is used when primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia are not controlled by diet and exercise, and it is also used as an adjunct to diet in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or dysbetalipoproteinemia. Additionally, Rosuvastatin helps lower cholesterol levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia, delaying the progression of atherosclerosis and reducing cardiovascular disease risk, thus decreasing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and vascular revascularization. The combination of these two medications is effective not only in managing hypertension and heart failure but also in improving hyperlipidemia and preventing cardiovascular diseases.
The recommended initial and maintenance dose of Candesartan Cilexetil is 8-16 mg orally once daily. If blood pressure control is difficult, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 32 mg once daily. For heart failure, the initial dose is 4 mg once daily, and the dose may be doubled at intervals of more than 2 weeks, with a maximum of 32 mg once daily. Rosuvastatin should be started at 5 mg once daily at any time of day.
Safety and efficacy for adolescents and children under 18 years of age have not been established.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn during pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Individuals with allergic reactions to this medication or with liver disease, severe liver impairment, myopathy, or severe renal impairment should not take it. Women of childbearing age should use appropriate contraceptive methods considering the possibility of pregnancy, and if planning pregnancy, should consult a doctor. Elderly patients, those with reduced liver function, or patients with hyperkalemia should use this medicine with caution, and it is important to regularly monitor liver and kidney function through blood tests. If symptoms such as muscle pain, muscle weakness, or muscle cramps occur, immediate medical attention is required, and in severe cases, the medication may need to be discontinued. This medication may increase liver enzyme levels, thus regular liver function tests are necessary, and if symptoms of liver damage appear, immediate consultation with a doctor is required. As it can lower blood pressure, caution should be exercised in cases of hypotension, dizziness, or fainting, and care should be taken while driving or operating machinery. When taken with other antihypertensives, diuretics, or potassium-sparing agents, potassium levels in the blood may increase, necessitating regular monitoring. During treatment, avoid vigorous exercise or activities that stress the muscles, and consult medical professionals immediately if muscle-related symptoms worsen. Patients with lactose intolerance should not take this medication, and due to potential drug interactions, it's essential to inform a doctor or pharmacist if taking other medications.
