Instill 1-2 drops once, 2-4 times a day. Adjust based on symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients with viral keratoconjunctivitis, fungal eye diseases, mycobacterial infections, or chronic blepharitis. It is also not safe for patients with hypersensitivity to this medication. Patients with corneal epithelial damage or corneal ulcers should be cautious as symptoms may worsen or corneal perforation may occur with the use of this medication. Caution is also required for patients with tuberculous or purulent eye diseases. Generally, this medication should not be used in glaucoma patients and children under 2 years of age; however, if absolutely necessary, it must be administered very carefully. Prolonged use of this medication may lead to increased intraocular pressure and glaucoma; therefore, regular intraocular pressure checks are necessary. There is a risk of infection, such as herpetic keratitis, keratomycosis, or Pseudomonas infection, so proper treatment should be sought immediately if infection symptoms appear. Long-term use may lead to posterior subcapsular cataracts or secondary eye infections, which must be monitored closely. In cases of acute purulent endophthalmitis, symptoms may be masked or worsen with this medication. This medication contains phosphates and can rarely cause corneal calcification in patients with corneal damage. Surgical wound healing may be delayed, and vesicle formation may increase. Prolonged use may suppress pituitary and adrenal cortex functions, requiring careful consideration. If any signs of hypersensitivity occur, use should be immediately discontinued. Using this medication on reddened eyes without a doctor’s diagnosis may result in vision damage; therefore, it should always be used according to a professional’s prescription. Patients with a history of herpes simplex require careful observation when using this medication. Patients who are unable to cooperate, including children, should have regular intraocular pressure checks if used for more than ten days. If inflammation or pain persists or worsens for more than 48 hours, use should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. Contact lens wearers should remove lenses before applying this medication and can reinsert them after at least 30 minutes. Temporary blurring of vision may occur upon administration; thus, driving or operating hazardous machinery is not recommended. If an infection of chickenpox or measles occurs while using this medication, serious complications can arise, necessitating confirmation of vaccination status and thorough infection prevention. Particularly, children and patients taking certain medications are at higher risk for systemic side effects, thus requiring caution. When used in conjunction with CYP3A4 inhibitors, the risk of systemic side effects increases, so it should only be used when absolutely necessary and the patient’s condition needs to be closely monitored. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant are advised to avoid prolonged or frequent use. Nursing mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding when using this medication. Safety has not been established for infants and children, so caution is needed. Elderly patients have reduced bodily functions and should use this medication more carefully. This medication is an eye drop solution for use on the eyes only, and care should be taken to avoid direct contact of the tip of the container with the eyes. Shake well before use and do not share with others to prevent contamination. For storage, keep in a tightly sealed container to protect from air or moisture, maintaining a temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. Do not transfer to another container. Always store the eye drop bottle upright, and be cautious as particle dispersion may be difficult even when shaken.
