Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension
Essential hypertension is a condition that can burden the cardiovascular system. This medication is used as an additional treatment option when blood pressure control with amlodipine or valsartan alone is insufficient. Both drugs help effectively lower blood pressure, contributing to the maintenance of heart and vascular health. It contributes to more stable management of the patient's blood pressure, thereby reducing the risk of complications. This medication is used in the treatment of essential hypertension.
The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. Taking it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning) is recommended. 5/80 mg: Administer to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 mg or valsartan 80 mg monotherapy. 5/160 mg: Administer to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 mg or valsartan 160 mg monotherapy.
The safety and efficacy of this medication for pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so its use is not recommended.
This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients who are allergic to this medication, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with severe kidney or liver disease, and patients with certain heart diseases should not take this medication. Patients with sodium or fluid deficiency should replenish their condition before taking this medication, and during treatment, blood pressure and symptoms should be carefully monitored. Patients with high potassium levels should frequently check their potassium levels when taking this medication with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics. Patients with renal artery stenosis or those who have recently received a kidney transplant require special caution due to the risk of worsened kidney function with this medication. If symptoms of angioedema, such as swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, occur during use, the medication should be discontinued immediately and not re-administered. Patients with heart failure or after myocardial infarction should monitor kidney function changes while taking this medication, and some heart disease patients need to exercise caution. When combined with other antihypertensive agents or certain medications, there may be an increased risk of side effects like hypotension, kidney dysfunction, and hyperkalemia, so regular blood pressure and blood tests are necessary. Dizziness or fatigue may occur when driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, arrhythmia, and, in severe cases, shock may occur, requiring immediate contact with a medical institution. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 years of age as its safety and efficacy have not been adequately established. In the elderly, it can be taken at the same dose as the general adult population, but caution is required depending on physical condition. Women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding must consult a physician before taking this medication and should avoid it during pregnancy.
